While the original Forekaster was designed as an XC option in wet conditions, the new version is aimed squarely at modern trail bikes with low travel (100 mm-130 mm), i.e., for the “downcountry” segment. The new Forekaster glides fast, but also provides solid traction in cornering and braking in a wide range of trail conditions. It fits into the Maxxis MTB range between our XC options, which prioritize rolling speed (Aspen, Rekon Race, Ikon, Rekon) and our gravity-designed treads (Dissector, Minion DHF, Minion DHR, Assegai), which emphasize cornering and braking traction.
